The PAD-XL W adiabatic dry cooler: how it works

PAD-XL W combines dry cooling with adiabatic pre-cooling to maximize efficiency.

  • Dry operation. In cold periods, ambient air is drawn in and conveyed directly to the heat exchange coils, without the need for water.
  • Adiabatic operation. During hot periods (or when a lower process fluid temperature than the outside temperature is needed), outside air passes through a high-efficiency humidifier pack, where it is pre-cooled before passing through the finned coils. This process greatly increases heat transfer efficiency, allowing it to work even at lower ambient temperatures.
